Denisa Kreitzer

Denisa Kreitzer is UK based artist born in Romania who studied at Leeds Arts University and graduated with a degree in Fine Art. Shes a muralist, oil painter and illustrator and takes inspiration from everyday life and the things that surround her especially nature and decorative patterns. The murals she strives to create follow the surrealist and 1960s psychedelia movements, whilst her paintings are inspired by 17th century Dutch still life, the Renaissance and Vanitas, adapting Old Master techniques of painting, using oils in a realistic and figurative manner.

"I want to preserve things through my paintings.

For me, the objects I paint and the things I see are the art. This is my reproduction of reality. I observe and analyse detail, colour, shape and form. My mind isn't minimalistic or simplistic therefore my art isn’t either. Torn between realism and illusion, I’m searching for some understanding of the world and self; because reality doesn't exist unless its observed."

Alongside her art she is also co owner of a furniture upcycling buisness called Double Deecor in which they upcycle furniture, paint murals and decorate events. It involves collecting and renewing old, unwanted furniture/home décor using second hand materials in order to bring awareness to sustainability and minimize our impact on the planet. They use recycled paint that’s locally sourced and all the items they upcycle are donated to them. The packaging is also recycled and personalized.
